David the Reporter... At OIAF 2015!!!!!!!!!!!! Thursday, September 17, 2015

Hello Evreybody,
My name is David Cuevas and here was my second day at OIAF 2015!

The First thing that I did, was at 9:30 AM, I went to Saint Bridges to see Meet The Filmmakers of Short Film Competition 1! The Discussion was very interesting and amusing to listen and watch at! After that, I managed to interview 2 Directors from the Competition! The first one is Ryan Ines, The Director of Violet (who later on won the OIAF award for Best Undergraduate Animation)!

The Second Interview that I did was to the director of Sonámbulo, Theodore Ushev, who in 2013 got shortlisted for an Academy Award for his Film, Gloria Victoria!

After that, I headed to see the Horror Comedy, Possessed! If you don't mind Clay Gore and you really like Dark Comedy's, then see it! After the screening, I was really lucky to meet the director of the film, Sam Orti! Here's my interview with him!

After Possessed, I went to Short Film Competition 5, which in my opinion was the BEST short film screening of OIAF 2015! All of the short films in competition I liked or loved! Here is a list of my top 4 shorts from the Screening! World of Tommorow, Amelia and Duarte, Planeta de Queso, and Wrigley Live Safe!
World of Tomorrow

Wrigley 'LiveSafe'

Planeta de Queso

After this Amazing Screening, I went to see Michael Kurinsky, An Artists Growth at Sony Pictures Animation! The presentation from Michael was Brilliant and I though it was fantastic!

After the Michael Kurinsky Talk, I went too Pitch This!, where I was on of the kid pitchers! I had so much fun and I would like to say thanks to Azarin for making me part of this awesome event!
After the pitch this event was over, I went to Arts Court to try out the Oculus Rift, and it was AWESOME!!!!!!! The game felt so realistic with the movement and the visual graphics were amazing!

After that, the last thing that I did, was to go to Feature Competition 3 for Adama, and it was a tour de force! The film was amazing and I highly recommend it to anyone!

New Story Published!

Hello readers,
I have some real important news that just happened! I got another story published called Elsie and the Polar Bear! It has been published by a Canadian Publishing company called Polar Expressions! My story is in the book Paper Shadows! I was competing all around Canada! This is my favorite story that I've written so far! Who knows if I'm going to make a movie for it?
Elsie and the Polar Bear is a 750 word short story! It's about a young girl named Elsie (Elsie is the daughter of Alexander Graham Bell in the real life and in the story) who goes on an adventure and meets new encounters like the artic hare and the Polar Bear King!

If you want to purchase the book click here!

See you in my next post!

I really loved the short! You can see the short in theaters when the movie Frozen comes out to theatres! The whole thing was excellent and I learned how they made the short! Here's a  few picture of me with Lauren MacMullan (Fun Fact: Did you know that she is the first female director to ever work in Disney?) and the legendary  Disney animator, Eric Goldberg (He is one of the few Disney animators who still knows how to do 2D animation and he directed Pocahontas).

                                                                 Me with Lauren MacMullan!
                                                                  Me with Eric Goldberg!
Oh by the way, did I tell you that they were handing out posters to be signed by Eric and Lauren?
                                                         Me with a poster!

On Saturday, In the morning, I went to Saint Brigid's Centre for the arts, to see "The Blue Umbrella" finding stories and staying true to their heart. Here's a link: https://www.animationfestival.ca/index.php?option=com_oiaf&task=showevent&i=1010#1010
The whole thing was awesome!!!!! I loved how Saschaka Unseld explained the process of the short, from the pitch to the final version! I just love professional developments! Any who, I got a picture of me with Saschaka Unseld signing a poster that they were handing out for free!

Saschaka Unseld giving out his presentation!
Me getting a poster signed by Saschaka Unseld!
Here's a little clip of the blue umbrella!

Before I went, there was a Nickelodeon station to talk out with the people that work there. I met a lady named Veronica Esquivel, who works at nickelodeon. She was very nice!
                                                Me talking with Veronica Esquivel!
Then, I had lunch at the National Gallery of Art!
